Thanks to Councilmember Wan, who joined our monthly PiHi meeting earlier this month. A few updates from Alex:

  • He's received his committee assignments.
  • Monroe Complete Streets – originally was going to happen in 3 phases but now will take place in 1 phase so that it's a more efficient process with the contractor
  • Cheshire Bridge - still on track to finish early spring; utility relocation still underway before work can be completed on the other two lanes
  • Big effort to retail APD officers, investing in License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras.
  • Alcohol code reform underway with recommendations to be made to City Council in the first quarter this year.
  • Read his latest newsletter here!

Ms. Tekeshia Hollis is now the principal at Howard Middle School as of January 17.

Jean Johnson Award Recipients

If you never met Jean Johnson (pictured below left), she was an amazing PiHi resident who served on the PHCA Board for 35 years. The award named in her honor began in 2013 to recognize exemplary service to Piedmont Heights.

This year, we are proud to present TWO recipients:

  • Bill Compton, PHCA President
  • Sachi Takahara of Nakato Japanese Restaurant, PiHi Alliance Secretary and longtime neighborhood supporter
Congratulations, Bill and Sachi! And THANK YOU!

Why Wait for Spring Cleaning?

Start the year off right with a clean house, thanks to the professionally trained cleaners at Ansley Home Cleaning. Their cleaners are background checked, bonded, and insured, and they use Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products.

Learn more about the storied history of Royal Bagel on the PHCA website (and a huge Thank You to Michael Yoss for sharing his family's photos and business history with us!).
